Owning a home is something that everyone should aspire to. Not only does it ensure a place to live in for life, it is also one of the best investments anyone can make. Of course the house prices go up and down, my own home took a big hit during the financial crisis of 2008.
However, housing is a long term investment and prices are now back to where they were before the crash. In the next few years I expect the price to go up further and it will be a good nest egg for my kids to share when I leave this world.
One downside to owning a home to renting one is that the owner is in charge of everything. For instance, if some roof tiles fall off a rental property, then the landlord is responsible for the repair. If it happened to my home, then I am liable to get it fixed. In fact, it is only a few weeks since I had to hire a roofing austin company as a leak appeared. Water was dripping in to the bathroom, and although not a major problem, I decided that it was best to have it repaired before it got worse.
